As a subcontractor using Bid Board, you can create measurements to quickly calculate distances, areas, and angles on project plans. The 'Measure' tool is available when you view a file directly on BuildingConnected.
Please note that the measurements made in this tool cannot be saved. If you are interested in takeoff capabilities and saving your work, you will need to have a subscription of Bid Board Pro. For more information, you can contact a sales specialist here.
To use the "Measure" tool
When viewing a drawing in the "Files" tab, click on the "Measure" ruler icon on the top toolbar tool. Please note that if your window is too small, you may not see these icons and may need to enlarge your window or zoom out of your browser window to see this option.
A set of tools will appear below. From this toolbar, you can first calibrate your drawing or set your scale by selecting one of the options from the drop-down menu.
If your scale is not listed or you would like to calibrate the scale on your own, click on "Calibrate". It will ask you to select two points on the drawing. You may need to zoom in and change the view to snap to the points that you need. To do so, you can use the "+" magnifying glass and hand icons on the toolbar or use your mouse to navigate accordingly across the drawing as needed.
After selecting the two points, enter in the value of the distance you chose and click "Calibrate".
You'll see the scale accordingly.
To calculate a distance
Click on "Distance" in the toolbar and select two points between the distance that you want to measure.
To calculate an area
Click on "Area" and select the points encompassing the area you are calculating. To finish and close out the area measurement, click back on the original point you created.
To calculate a angle
Click on "Angle" and select points to create the desired measurement.
To delete a measurement
Click on the measurement and click on "Discard measurement" or press "Delete" button on your computer's keyboard.
