As a subcontractor, you are able to use BuildingConnected to submit a bid for projects once the due date has passed.
1. Start by finding the bid that is past due in your Bid Board. Click on “Create proposal.”
2. You will be directed to the project’s bid form. Fill out the necessary information in the bid form and click on “Review & Submit” at the bottom of the page.
3. You will have the opportunity to edit the information entered before submitting your bid. If everything is correct, click on “Submit” to complete the process.
4. You will then have the opportunity to add notes to the bid you just submitted. These notes are not visible to the general contractor and are for internal use only. If notes were entered, click “Save” on this window. Otherwise, click “Skip.”
5. You will immediately see the status change to “Submitted” and the amount submitted in your bid.
Submitting bids after the due date for closed projects
It is not possible to submit a bid after the bid due date when a project is closed. If the due date listed has not yet passed but you only see the option to “Log Proposal” (or “Log Budget”), this means that the project is closed.
If you click on the “Bid Form” tab for a closed project, you will encounter a message saying that proposals are no longer accepted. You will only have the option to log your bid. Logged bids are for internal tracking purposes only and are not received by the general contractor.
Note: BuildingConnected Support cannot re-open projects on behalf of a general contractor. If you’d like to submit a bid past the due date for a closed project, we ask that you contact the general contractor directly.
Submitting bids after the due date for sealed bid projects
It is not possible to submit a bid after the bid due date when a project is sealed. Instead of the option to “Create a Proposal” from the “Overview” tab, you will see the option to “Log Proposal.”
You will also see a message saying that bids cannot be submitted for sealed bid projects after the due date has passed.
If you click on the “Bid Form” tab for a sealed bid project after the due date, you will not be able to create a proposal. You will only have the option to log your bid. As a reminder, logged bids are for internal tracking purposes only and are not received by the general contractor.
Note: BuildingConnected Support does not have the ability to unseal projects. If you’d like to submit a bid past the due date for a sealed project, we ask that you contact the general contractor directly by using the “Messages” tab for the project.
