If you are a general contractor using BC Pro, you can create an NDA protected project to ensure all project information remains confidential. When you create an NDA protected project, subcontractors are unable to view any project information including the project name, location, files, and bid forms until they sign the NDA. Please note that NDAs can only be added to projects before they are published. This is to ensure all subcontractors sign the NDA before viewing project information.
To create an NDA protected project
Begin by navigating to your Projects page on the left-hand side.
Click on your unpublished project; then, navigate to the “Information” tab and click "Edit Information".
On the right-hand side, select the check box “Require a Non-disclosure Agreement,”
Select the check box "Show the project name before NDA is signed" if you would like the project name to show in the invitation to bid for the subcontractor.
Click “Upload NDA” then select the file of your non-disclosure you would like to upload.
Click “Save Project”
Your uploaded NDA will appear on the “Information” tab under the “Advanced Settings” section.
Once your project is published, a bid invitation will be sent to subcontractors within each bid package prompting them to electronically sign the NDA. As noted above, they will not be able to view any project information, files, or bid forms until the NDA is signed. By electronically signing the NDA, subcontractors agree that they have downloaded and read the uploaded NDA and are authorized to consent. Please note that there is no way to sign the uploaded document directly through BuildingConnected, but BuildingConnected tracks digital consent which is legally equivalent.
If you would like more visibility into what subcontractors see on their end when they are invited to NDA protected projects, please reference the article, “Why am I being asked to sign an NDA?”
For information on how to see which subcontractors have signed an NDA for a project, please reference the article, "How general contractors can see which bidders have signed an NDA for a project (BC Pro)."
