As a general contractor with BC Pro, you have access to bid forms that can be customized to meet your project’s needs. The ability to customize bid forms allows you to easily confirm with bidders that they have included specific items in their bids.
This article goes over how to customize your bid form with detailed breakouts. For information on how to create bid forms for lump sum bids please reference the article, How to customize your bid form for lump sum bids (BC Pro).
To customize your bid form with details breakouts
If you are customizing the bid form directly on a project, click on the bid package for which you want to receive bids with detailed breakouts. From the bid package’s “Bid Form” tab, click on “Edit.”
If you are customizing a bid form template, click on the "Scope-specific Bid Packages" tab.
Look for the scope for which you want to receive bids with detailed breakouts. From the “Bid Form” tab, click on “Edit.”
Add the individual breakouts you want to include in your Bid Form. You can type each question individually or copy and paste questions from Excel.
If you’d like to add headers to keep your bid form organized, we recommend entering all the breakout items first and adding the headers at the end. You can then move the headers by clicking on the icon located to the left of the header.
To add a header to your bid form simply add a colon to the end of the line item.
While clicking on the icon next to the header, move it to the desired section of the bid form.
Once the individual breakouts have been entered and the headers organized, click on “Save.”
You will immediately see the breakouts you added to the bid form.
If the bid form was customized directly on a project, the changes you made will automatically overwrite any previously existing bid form questions. If you customize a bid form template, the changes made will only be applied to the template. You can import templates into a project by referencing the article, How general contractors can import bid form templates (BC Pro).
Once subcontractors submit bids, you will be able to see the detailed breakout questions from the project’s Bid Leveling tab.
