BuildingConnected simplifies the process of creating projects and inviting subcontractors to bid. Subcontractors who were invited to the project can forward their invitations to partners or suppliers who are helping them with their bids. The person who received the forwarded invite becomes a vendor on that project, which means that they have limited access to the project’s details.
This article explains how general contractors can determine if a subcontractor is a vendor on a project. The ability to identify vendors is important in cases where the vendor company should have full access to the project.
To identify vendors on a project
Vendors are not listed as individual entries under the “Bidders” tab in a bid package. Additionally, the “Jump to” feature does not identify vendors in a project, only companies who were directly invited to bid.
To find a vendor in a project, go to the appropriate bid package. Scroll through each company listed in the “Bidders” tab until you see “Vendors invited by” on the right.
Alternately, you can determine if a company is listed as a vendor if you invite the company to the project but they do not appear as an individual entry in the “Bidders” tab. This is because the company is a vendor for one of the subcontractors who was invited to the project.
Start from the appropriate bid package and click on “+ Invite Bidders.”
Enter the email address for the individual subcontractor you’d like to invite to the project and click on “Invite Selected Bidders.”
If a company is a vendor on that project, a new entry will not be added for that company in the “Bidders” tab.
However, you can scroll through each company that was invited to the project until you see the “Vendors invited by” section on the right.
