BuildingConnected helps keep your project files organized by allowing you to upload them directly into a project. This makes it easy for subcontractors to see project details and access the necessary files to submit their bid in one centralized location.
You can upload files at the bid package level so that they can only be accessed by the bidders invited to that bid package.
To upload files into a bid package
Navigate into the bid package that you want to upload files into.
From the "Files" tab, click "Upload Files".
Drag files into the window or click "From your computer" select files to upload.
Click "Done". Your files will appear in a folder matching your bid package name.
You can see the progress of your upload on the "Files" page. You can also minimize or close the window or navigate away. The upload process will complete in the background.
You can create folders in your bid package files. Click the "three-dot" icon and click "Add subfolder".
You can further make adjustments to a subfolder by clicking the "three-dot" icon next to it.
To move, delete or download individual files or folders, click the "three-dot" icon next to that folder or file and select accordingly.
To move, delete or download multiple files or folders, select the files or folders and click "Move" or click the "three-dot" icon to delete or download.
Files Access and Notifications
If you have not yet published your project and invited bidders, bidders will not be able to access the files until you do so. Once this occurs, when bidders access your invitation, then they can view or download the files you have uploaded into your project.
If your project is published and bidders are invited, they will not receive an email notification if new files are uploaded. If you would like to notify your bidders, we suggest using the "Messages" tool to send an email to all or select bidders informing them of the new files uploaded to BuildingConnected.
What do bid package files look like for subcontractors?
When your bidder opens your project files in their Bid Board, they will see a folder for the specific bid package they were invited to and all other files accessible to all bidders will be available outside of that folder.
Below is an example of the "Drawings.pdf" which was uploaded to project files and the "Acoustical Ceilings" folder, which includes all the files uploaded to the bid package.
Note: The "New" notification allows your bidder to quickly see any new files have been uploaded they have yet to view or download.
