BuildingConnected allows subcontractors to access project files from the same place where a bid can be submitted. This functionality allows subcontractors to easily keep track of the resources needed to submit their bid. This article explains how to download files that have been uploaded to a bid by the general contractor.
To download an individual file
To start, open the bid for which you’d like to download files. Click on the “Files” tab.
Under “Files,” look for the individual file you’d like to download. Check the box to the left of the file name. Once the appropriate file is selected, click on the “Download selected” button.
The download will start immediately after selecting “Download Selected.”
To download all files
If you’d like to download all the files that have been uploaded to the bid, start by going to the “Files” tab for the appropriate bid.
Click on the “Download All” button to start the download. The download will start immediately after selecting “Download All.”
For information on how to troubleshoot issues when downloading files please reference the article, How subcontractors can troubleshoot file download issues.
Please note that the size limit for file downloads at one time is 4.5 GB. You may see a note when hovering over the "Download All" button that states “Your files are too large to download all at once”. In these cases, please select a smaller bunch of files to download at one time using the instructions above on how to select and download individual files.
File States
You may see a blue "New" badge appear on a file. This allows you to easily see when a new file has been uploaded by the general contractor for this project. The badge indicates that the file has not yet been downloaded or opened and viewed on BuildingConnected using the File Viewer by you individually. Publishing a file to a BC Pro project does not mark it as Read.
You can download it as desired per the instructions above.
I can't see the file names. Please help!
If the file names are truncated and you cannot easily see them to decide which to download, we suggest zooming out of your browser and the file name column will expand as your window changes.
The following video quickly shows quickly how to do this in Google Chrome from the three dots at the top right. You can see the full name once the zoom is brought down.
