BuildingConnected’s Bid Board includes the ability to log bids. Logging bids is a great way to save details that you want to document for a job but not include in your submitted bid.
This article explains how to log bids from within an opportunity group. For information on how to submit proposals to general contractors with opportunity groups please reference the article, How to submit proposals with opportunity groups.
To log a bid within an opportunity group
To start, find the opportunity group containing the project you wish to log a bid for. Click on it.
From the “Overview” tab, click on the “Bid Form” tab.
Use the “Previous” and “Next” options to scroll through the opportunities (i.e. bids) in the group until you find the correct one. Alternately, click on “See all opportunities” to see a list of all the bids in the group and click on the name of the correct one to select it.
Next, click on “Log your bid instead.”
If the bid was sent through BuildingConnected, you will be asked to confirm that you want to log your bid. However, if the bid was forwarded into your Bid Board or manually created, you will not have to confirm that you want to log your bid.
Logged bids are not received by or visible to the general contractor. If you want to submit your bid to the general contractor instead, click on “Cancel.” Otherwise, click on “Continue.”
You will have the opportunity to enter the details of your logged bid. If you decide to submit your bid to the general contractor, you can do so from this screen by clicking on “Send your bid instead.” Otherwise, proceed to enter the details of your logged bid.
Once you have entered the appropriate details, click on “Log Bid.”
On the next screen you will have the ability to enter internal notes for this bid. The notes entered on this screen are only visible to you and your coworkers. They are not visible to general contractors or clients and are intended for internal use only. If you have no notes to add, click “Skip” to proceed. Otherwise, click "Save" once your notes are added.
You will see the details of your logged bid. Note that since a submission was not made, the status of this individual opportunity will not change to “Submitted.”
Additionally, you will see an alert reminding you that the bid was logged and not sent to the general contractor.
