General contractors often receive proposals in the form of a PDF through email. This creates hassle for estimators when reviewing proposals not submitted through BuildingConnected’s platform.
Proposal Viewer is accessible through the Bid Leveling tool and allows general contractors to complete bid forms on behalf of subcontractors faster and with more accuracy. Information can be transferred with ease by having both the proposal and bid form in the same view, eliminating tedious data cross-referencing and errors.
How to view proposals submitted by bidders
To start, find the subcontractor company that you are submitting a revision for. Click on “Create revision.”
You will be directed to the bid package’s bid form. The window is split in two parts: the bid form is on the left and the Proposal Viewer is on the right. Click on the “Upload” button to select a file to upload.
Once selected, click on “Open.”
Alternately, you can drag and drop the appropriate file directly into Proposal Viewer.
Note: Only PDF files can be uploaded into Proposal Viewer. Click here or instructions on how to convert Word documents into PDF files. Click here for instructions on how to convert Excel documents into PDF files.
The upload will begin automatically. Once uploaded, you’ll be able to see the file details on the right side of the window. If necessary, the name of the file is located toward the top of Proposal Viewer.
Click on “Review and submit” at the bottom of the window to proceed to the next step.
You’ll be asked to confirm the details before you actually submit the revision. If an adjustment is needed, click on “Back to Edit.” Otherwise click on “Submit.”

If you wish to hide Proposal Viewer, click on “Collapse.” This will cause the bid form to take up the entire window instead of it being split in two.
If the uploaded file has font that is too small to read comfortably, you can zoom in or out by clicking “Zoom in” or "Zoom out" respectively.
If you need to upload a file to view while entering details of a bid, click on the “Upload” button and follow the steps listed above.
You can download the uploaded file onto your computer by clicking on the “Download” button.
If necessary, you can delete a file that was uploaded into Proposal Viewer by clicking on the “Delete” button.
