As a subcontractor using Bid Board Pro, you can create quantity takeoffs to keep track of the quantities of materials needed to complete a project. Takeoff information is private to your company in BuildingConnected and can be exported as a CSV when you are ready to incorporate your pricing.

Create a takeoff
Navigate to the Files tab of your opportunity and click on the file that you wish to edit.
Navigate to the sheet you wish to work on and click "Takeoff" to get started.
The scale of your quantity takeoff must be set prior to measuring every time a sheet is opened. The scale will remain set until you leave the sheet. You can choose a pre-set scale option or click calibrate to set a custom scale.
To set a custom scale, draw two points on the canvas with a known distance between them. Doorways are a useful benchmark as they are a standard 3 feet wide.
Enter the real size in the calibration modal and click "Calibrate".
Click "Create takeoff item". This action copies the drawing from Client Files to Internal Files. Your takeoff information will be stored in the Internal Files copy.
Choose the item type (area, linear, count) to start your takeoff. Through this sidebar, you can set the name, description, and color of your takeoff as well.
Draw on the canvas and click "Done" to return to the list view when finished.
To find your quantity takeoffs, look for the blue triangle icon in the Internal Files tab. All sheets that contain takeoff information will have a blue triangle icon.
How to use the drawing tools
Area: Click and drag on the canvas to draw a rectangle, or click various points on the canvas to create a polygon.
Linear: Click multiple points on the canvas to draw a line segment between them.
Count: Click on the canvas. A circle will appear where the mouse was clicked.
Delete takeoff
To delete the takeoff item and all of the measurements it contains, click "Discard takeoff item" in the Edit takeoff item view. You can enter the Edit takeoff item view by double-clicking the item name.
To delete an individual measurement in the takeoff, either click the item on the canvas or select it via the takeoff panel and press "Delete" on keyboard ("fn + Delete" for Mac).
How to export my takeoff quantities
Click “Export takeoff” from the takeoff list view.
The takeoff can also be exported from the Internal Files section. This will export all takeoff items from all files in the opportunity as a CSV.
Open the CSV to see each takeoff item. All area and linear quantities will be listed in decimal feet up to 2 decimal places.
Can I download the plans with my takeoff drawings on them?
Currently, we do not have the ability to download the plans with your takeoffs on them. The "Export Takeoff" function provides a .csv with the takeoff values. If a picture is needed, a possible solution would be to take a screenshot of the plans while in the Takeoff tool.
Can I create a new version of my existing takeoff?
You cannot create direct copies of your takeoff at this time. Instead, we suggest that you (1) modify the existing takeoff and export alternate quantities or (2) create a new copy of the original client file and restart the takeoff with the same quantity names.
Who can view my takeoff?
The takeoff is created in the Internal Files section of your account. Files in this section are visible to you and other users in your company. The takeoff is not viewable by general contractors or vendors.
